About Us

EWAH NEXUS: Who We Are

EWAH NEXUS — Energy, Water, Agriculture & Health Nexus — is a development association officially registered in Dschang, West Region of Cameroon. We are a techno-social organisation dedicated to sustainable community transformation through the integration of clean energy, water security, sustainable agriculture, and holistic health.

Founded on the belief that no single pillar of development can succeed in isolation, EWAH NEXUS takes a Nexus Approach — recognising that energy powers water pumps, water irrigates farms, farming produces food, and food security underpins good health. We work at the intersection of all four.

We prioritise the empowerment of women and youth as the primary agents of community change — equipping them with technical skills, entrepreneurial capacity, and leadership roles to drive their own communities forward.

Motto: Empower. Innovate. Transform.

Our Mission
To drive integrated sustainable development by implementing context-specific clean energy solutions across the Water-Agriculture-Health nexus; transforming women and youths from primary domestic resource managers into self-employed innovators who lead the transition toward a climate-resilient, energy-secure, and food-secure future.
Our Vision
Build a world where communities thrive through an integrated nexus of clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and holistic health — contributing to a healthier planet, an equitable future, and more resilient communities across Africa and beyond.

EWAH NEXUS: Our Objectives

EWAH NEXUS seeks to:
Objective One
Establish a sustainable ecosystem of clean energy expertise by equipping local communities, women, and youths with the technical and entrepreneurial capacity to design, install, and manage integrated energy solutions that ensure long-term water, food, and health security within their communities.
Objective Two
Promote the transition to clean energy — combatting household and environmental air pollution to significantly reduce respiratory diseases and premature deaths.
Objective Three
Foster energy security in rural communities through reliable, context-specific technologies, and promote inclusive energy education through participatory decision-making.
Objective Four
Empower women and youth to be at the centre of the green economy by providing leadership roles, vocational training, and active participation in energy, water, agriculture, and health interventions.
Objective Five
Implement digitalised Monitoring and Evaluation systems (utilising IoT and AI) to ensure transparent tracking, real-time performance monitoring, and continuous organisational improvement.
Objective Six
Foster entrepreneurship in the agricultural value chain by integrating energy-efficient processing and preservation technologies to increase shelf-life, improve nutritional health, and boost household incomes.
Objective Seven
Promote responsible environmental stewardship by developing waste-to-wealth programmes and renewable-powered pest management systems.

Our Core Values

At EWAH-NEXUS, our values guide the way we design projects, work with communities, build partnerships, and measure impact. They reflect our belief that sustainable development must be practical, inclusive, locally owned, and deeply connected to the real needs of people.

Sustainability

We are committed to developing solutions that are environmentally responsible, economically practical, and socially meaningful. For EWAH-NEXUS, sustainability means creating interventions that can continue to serve communities long after a project has been introduced. Our solutions are designed to protect the environment, reduce waste, promote clean energy, and support responsible use of natural resources. We also believe that a project is only truly sustainable when it makes economic sense for the people using it. That is why we promote affordable, context-specific technologies that communities can operate, maintain, and gradually improve. Whether in energy, water, agriculture, or health, our goal is to create lasting value that improves lives without damaging the environment or increasing dependency.

Radical Inclusivity

We place women, youth, and underserved communities at the center of project design, training, decision-making, and leadership.

EWAH-NEXUS believes that meaningful development cannot happen when the people most affected by challenges are left out of the solution. Women, youth, rural communities, and vulnerable groups often carry the greatest burden of energy poverty, water scarcity, food insecurity, and poor health access. For this reason, we ensure that they are not only beneficiaries, but active participants and leaders in our programs.

Our approach promotes equal opportunity, community participation, and shared ownership. We create spaces where local voices are heard, local knowledge is respected, and community members are empowered to contribute ideas, skills, and leadership. By doing this, we build solutions that reflect real needs and create stronger community commitment.

Technical Sovereignty

We believe communities should not depend entirely on external experts. They should have the knowledge and skills to install, manage, maintain, and improve their own systems.

Technical sovereignty means giving communities control over the technologies that serve them. Instead of simply introducing external solutions, EWAH-NEXUS focuses on training local people to understand how systems work and how to keep them functioning effectively.

Through hands-on capacity building, practical demonstrations, and technical education, we empower women, youth, and community members to become problem-solvers, technicians, innovators, and entrepreneurs. This reduces dependency, strengthens local confidence, and ensures that projects remain useful even after external support has ended.

Our goal is not just to bring technology to communities, but to build the human capacity needed to sustain that technology.

Holistic Interdependence

We recognize that energy, water, agriculture, and health are not separate sectors, but interconnected parts of one development system. At EWAH-NEXUS, we use a nexus approach because challenges in communities are often linked. Lack of energy affects water pumping, food preservation, irrigation, health services, education, and income generation.

Poor water access affects agriculture, sanitation, nutrition, and public health. Weak agriculture affects food security, income, and family wellbeing. Because of this, we design solutions that address several needs at once. For example, a solar-powered water system can support irrigation, improve food production, reduce manual labor, and strengthen household health.

A clean energy solution can reduce pollution, support preservation of farm produce, and improve community livelihoods.

This value helps us create integrated projects that produce wider and longer-lasting impact.

Digital Empowerment

We use digital tools to make progress visible, track impact, improve accountability, and help communities make informed decisions. EWAH-NEXUS believes that technology should not only be used by experts; it should also empower communities. Digital tools such as sensors, monitoring systems, mobile platforms, IoT, and data dashboards can help communities understand how their systems are performing and how resources are being used.

Through digital empowerment, we promote transparency, evidence-based planning, and better project management. Communities can monitor energy production, water usage, system performance, environmental conditions, and project outcomes. This makes it easier to identify problems early, improve decision-making, and measure real impact.

We also see digital innovation as a pathway for youth empowerment. By introducing young people to digital monitoring, AI, IoT, and data-driven development, we prepare them to participate in the future green and digital economy.
