    Empowering communities begins with knowledge.

    Water Access and Sanitation

Access to safe water and sanitation is fundamental to health, education, agriculture and economic development. Yet many communities continue to depend on distant, unsafe or unreliable water sources, placing a heavy burden on women, children and vulnerable households. The EWAH-NEXUS Water Access and Sanitation Programme develops integrated solutions that combine renewable energy, appropriate water infrastructure, hygiene education and community management. Our aim is to create systems that are reliable, affordable and locally sustainable.

    Our Areas of Action

    Renewable-Energy-Powered Water Systems

We support solar-powered boreholes, pumping systems, water storage and distribution solutions designed around the needs and resources of each community.

    Rainwater Harvesting and Treatment

We promote safe rainwater collection, storage, treatment and purification methods that help households and institutions strengthen their water security.

    Sanitation and Hygiene

Schools and communities receive practical education on sanitation, handwashing, water handling, menstrual hygiene and the prevention of water-related illnesses.

    Local Management and Monitoring

Community water committees are trained in system operation, preventive maintenance, record keeping, water-quality monitoring and responsible resource management.

    Our Approach

We begin by assessing water demand, existing sources, environmental conditions and community priorities. Beneficiaries participate in selecting and implementing the solution, while local operators receive practical training. Renewable energy and digital monitoring are integrated where they can improve reliability, reduce operating costs and provide early warning of system problems.
    Who We Serve
The programme supports rural communities, schools, health facilities, farmers, women's groups, vulnerable households and community institutions that need safer and more dependable water and sanitation services.
    The Impact We Seek
We seek to increase access to clean water, reduce the time spent collecting water, improve hygiene and public health, strengthen agricultural production and ensure that communities can manage and maintain their water infrastructure with confidence.
