Programme

Nutrition & Health

Connecting food, energy, environment and technology to community wellbeing.

About the programme

What this programme is about

The Nutrition and Health Programme promotes healthier lives through practical nutrition education, food valorisation, clean technologies and preventive-health awareness. It recognises that health is shaped not only by medical care, but also by food quality, water access, cooking practices, hygiene and the household environment.

EWAH NEXUS works with communities to translate health and nutrition knowledge into realistic daily practices. We draw on local foods and familiar experiences so that families can make informed choices using the resources available to them.

What we do

Our areas of action

Community nutrition education

Families learn about balanced diets, local food diversity, maternal and child nutrition, healthy meal planning and the relationship between nutrition and long-term wellbeing.

Food safety and preservation

Practical demonstrations promote hygienic preparation, safe storage, improved preservation and the reduction of contamination and food waste.

Clean cooking and healthy homes

We raise awareness of cleaner cooking methods, indoor air quality, safe water, sanitation and household practices that reduce preventable health risks.

School and community health

Age-appropriate outreach, community campaigns and partnerships with health professionals strengthen preventive-health knowledge and encourage healthier behaviour.

Our approach

How we work

The programme combines accessible education, practical demonstrations, community dialogue and collaboration with health and nutrition professionals. Activities are adapted to local cultures, food habits and available resources, with particular attention to women, children and vulnerable households.

Who we serve

Who the programme is for

The programme serves women, caregivers, children, adolescents, schools, community health workers, farmers, food processors and underserved households.

The impact we seek

We seek to improve nutrition knowledge, strengthen household food choices, encourage safer food preparation, reduce exposure to harmful cooking smoke and build stronger connections between agriculture, nutrition, sanitation and community health.
